Reddit Launch PostsThe product was announced on Reddit in communities for indie hackers and micro-SaaS builders. Reddit post titles in the sources include "GPT Watermark-Remover launched yesterday" in r/microsaas and r/indiehackers, and one of them is titled "First online sale!" A NeedScout listing also says a solo founder reported making a first sale minutes after launching the browser-based tool. Why it worked: Those communities are full of people who build and sell small online tools, so they are a good place to show a new product and get the first users. Posting about a first sale also gives other builders a reason to look. The sources don't include traffic or sign-up numbers from these posts, so the size of the effect is unknown.Free Tool as the HookThe product is built around a free version. TrustMRR describes it as "Our free tool finds and eliminates hidden characters." The Medium article says the free version has a 500-character limit per scan, while signed-in accounts get 1,500. Pricing data from webclaw lists a free plan, plus paid options that include weekly, monthly, and one-time lifetime plans. Why it worked: A free tool lets someone try the product right away with no commitment. Once they get value, the character limit gives them a reason to sign in and eventually pay for more. Students and writers searching for a quick fix are a natural fit for this kind of entry point. The sources don't show how many people moved from free to paid.Mentions by Other PeopleOther people mention the tool online. A LinkedIn post by podcast host Jae Kim includes a clip that says the founder "built GPT Watermark Remover back in 2021" and that it "strips out the hidden markers." A Medium article by Sage Holloway also cites the tool's stated limits. The sources don't say whether these were arranged or came up on their own.Why it worked: When someone outside the company talks about your product, people tend to trust it more than an ad. Mentions in articles and podcasts put the product in front of readers who weren't looking for it. The sources don't show how much traffic these mentions brought in.
