About The Business

Idea

How did Izzy Nicholls get the idea for The Gap Decaders?

Izzy and Phil had a mutual love for traveling and went on luxury vacations together for several years.

However, six months into their travels, the weather changed, and Izzy found herself in need of mental stimulation as the days grew shorter.

While browsing the internet, she stumbled upon some travel blogs that caught her attention.

The concept of sharing information online was new to her, but the more she read these travel blogs, the more fascinated she became with writing about the motorhome lifestyle and earning money through blogging.

Build

How did Izzy Nicholls build the initial version of The Gap Decaders?

Izzy, a non-technical person, purchased a domain and created her website on Wix. Despite lacking coding and web development skills, she created her first website.

The website wasn’t running smoothly, and she realized she needed to enhance her skills and take it to the next level. To learn more, she enrolled in Nomadic Matt’s Superstar Blogging course.

The course helped her understand the basics of blogging, website design, and search engine optimization. She learned how to migrate her website from Wix to WordPress and gradually started to familiarize herself with the WordPress backend.

Once she migrated to WordPress, she had to start almost from scratch and find a suitable host. She researched and compared hosting providers to find the one that suited her needs.

Over time, she continued to improve her website’s design and functionality. She learned how to use various WordPress page builders and plugins to add new features and optimize the site for better search engine rankings.

Her hard work and dedication paid off, as her website started to receive more traffic and engagement.
