"In 2011, Amman Ahmed decided to invest what was left of his student loan in a company called Roundwaves, to make soothing audio to help busy people unwind.
He found composer Ricardo Henriquez online, and they started working together on a series of relaxing audio tracks.
However, both quickly noticed that not only were humans pleasantly zoning out to the backing tracks, but pets were responding as well.
Henriquez is based in Central Americaβs smallest country, El Salvador, a country known in part for infamous gangs such as MS-13.
His dog Zuki suffered from anxiety whenever the noises of gun violence filled his neighborhood, so he came up with the idea of composing specifically to relax his dog. "

When Amman Ahmed had the idea of starting a YouTube channel for pets, he searched online for producers to create content.
He met Ricardo Henriquez, who charged him $50 for his first composition and became a co-founder.
After some trial and error, the two devised a formula for music and images that pet owners said helped their pets relax.

Running a skeleton operation with few overheads, Ahmed said he focused on listener satisfaction to retain and grow his user base.
He'd call pet owners who enjoyed his channels to get more specific feedback about what they liked.
Ahmed said he has spent only $5,000 on marketing over the years, preferring word of mouth and search engine optimization. That means the revenue generated from the channels far exceeded the costs.
They were early to join YouTubeβs monetization program. Instead of sticking just to the video platform, they jumped on Spotify, iTunes, and 20+ platforms as soon as possible.
