Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?

This past year has been such a ride—full of moments that made me feel on top of the world and others that truly tested my strength. Hands N Paws has grown so much in ways I never thought possible. We’ve expanded our team with some amazing people, seen an increase in revenue, and continued to strengthen our relationships with clients and their furry family members. It’s incredible to think about how far we’ve come. But honestly, and as I've said, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.

We’ve had our share of challenges, and some of them were really tough to navigate. Losing pets that we cared for deeply, even if they weren’t our own, is a pain that stays with you. I always warn my team members that this is the WORST part of this work. Every pet we work with becomes part of our extended family, and when we lose one, it’s like a piece of us goes with them. And then there was the departure of a team leader in August who meant so much to us. That was hard, too—not just professionally, but personally. And it's truly in those moments that you’re reminded just how much heart and soul we all pour into this company. It’s not just work; it’s something so much deeper.

Despite the challenges, I can’t help but feel so grateful for what this year has shown me. The way our team has come together and supported one another during the hard times is nothing short of amazing. Watching them show up every day with such care and passion for the pets and families we serve—it honestly inspires me. And then there’s the clients who go out of their way to express their gratitude. Every ‘thank you,’ every kind word or gesture, reminds me why this mission is worth every fiber we put into it.

As we step into year seven of Hands N Paws coming up in May of 2025, I feel a mix of pride, gratitude, and excitement. Pride in the team we’ve built and the impact we’ve made, gratitude for the lessons learned and the people who’ve supported us, and excitement for everything that’s still to come. Hands N Paws has become so much more than a business—it’s a community, a family, and a mission that keeps growing and evolving. We’re here not just to care for pets, but to bring peace of mind, joy, and love into the lives of the people who trust us with their furry companions.

So here’s to another year of growth, learning, and making a difference. I’m so thankful for everyone who’s been part of this journey—our amazing team, our wonderful clients, and every single pet we’ve had the privilege to care for. I can’t wait to see where this road takes us next, and look forward to checking back in with the Starter Story audience next year!
