Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?

The business has remained fairly consistent in the last couple of years - steady turnover, perhaps slight growth. Traffic for copywriting and content-related terms has been steadily declining for the last two years. There's no doubt that AI will have played a part in that but we also think there are broader economic factors at play and that the market for copywriting has changed a lot in recent years: namely, it's an overcrowded marketplace and that, as content has become a necessity, businesses will take on in-house writers and not use freelance or agencies. We've been moving to a broader mix of digital marketing services and are contemplating a rebrand. This is a positive move for us not just a reaction to a more difficult marketplace for copywriting. For the last 10 years, about 50% of our business has come from SEO, Ads management and other digital marketing services. We've really enjoyed the deeper relationship this gives us with our clients - we have more input in direction and strategy, and more ownership when we achieve positive outcomes. It's been difficult to market this effectively alongside our copywriting work without diluting the message so it's likely that this year or next year we will launch a separate site for these services.
