Eric Cheng, the founder and CEO of Jobright.ai, holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and was an early engineer at Box before founding Fangcloud. Co-founder Ethan Zheng, the CTO, earned a Ph.D. in AI and Database from The University of Hong Kong and previously led technology teams at Newsbreak and Twitter.

How did Eric come up with the idea for Jobright.ai?
The idea for Jobright.ai was sparked during Eric Cheng's gap year, when he journeyed through various small and medium-sized cities. As he traveled, he met over 100 talented individuals struggling to access the same job opportunities available in larger cities. This personal experience revealed a gap in the job market, where skilled professionals faced barriers not due to lack of talent but because of limited access to opportunities.
Eric discussed this issue with his co-founder, Ethan Zheng, an AI expert. They saw the potential to use AI to level the playing field and provide equal opportunities for job seekers, particularly those in underrepresented regions. Recognizing the problem and leveraging recent AI advancements, they set out to create an AI tool that acts like a personal career assistant.
