Hello again! Remind us who you are and what business you started.
RecurPost is a social media scheduler with repeating schedules. We help businesses implement their social media strategy in a way that they keep reaping benefits forever after just setting it up once.
We have grown a lot since the last time we talked. Our subscriber base grew to over 50,000 users and our MRR also more than doubled.
Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?
We have been busy working on our product-market fit. We redesigned RecurPost to make it easier to understand. We worked on our onboarding process a lot to make sure we get everyone who signs up to start perfectly using RecurPost.
You need to implement a framework to get reports on demand so that you can see what works and whatnot.
We have doubled down on our content as well. We are promoting our blog posts a lot more than we used to last year. Thanks to our new marketing team, our organic traffic has grown 6 times in the last three months alone.
What have been your biggest lessons learned in the last year?
We have identified a few things we could have done early on. The first one was to add a good live chat software that converts into ticket management software as well. This has given us a lot more inquiries than earlier. We use the Intercom service for this and it does the job well. It costs a pretty penny so new startups might want to look for a cheaper alternative.
We also started tracking a user’s journey better. It helped us identify the sticking points and guided us on overcoming those obstacles better.
What’s in the plans for the upcoming year, and the next 5 years?
We are working on our social listening platform. Our users will be able to not only post on their social channels, they will be able to reply to their messages, comments, DMs right from RecurPost.
We are also working on an AI-based tool that will help us create perfect social media posts for our users. We will scan the Internet for content about their business and then break it into multiple channel-aware social updates that can be shared on different channels.
Have you read any good books in the last year?
I read Built to Last by Collins and Porras and it has given me a fundamental understanding of how to build companies that last forever.
It is all about creating value for all stakeholders. It includes employees, partners, and customers. We are working on implementing those lessons to RecurPost.
Advice for other entrepreneurs who might be struggling to grow their business?
The first step is to identify your NSM (north star metric) and see what is stopping it. Once you identify the issue, it is easier to solve it. I did that later than I would have liked, but it has shown us what we are missing. We now work on fixing those problems and things look easier now.
You need to implement a framework to get reports on demand so that you can see what works and whatnot. Going with numbers makes it much easier for you to make decisions.
Are you looking to hire for certain positions right now?
We are expanding our marketing team right now to increase the number of users we get. We are also hiring for conversion roles to start converting those customers better.
