I’m Lisa Concepcion, Certified Professional Life Coach and I founded a personal development company called LoveQuest Coaching which helps Type-A professionals who struggle with dating, relationships, divorces, breakups, narcissistic abuse detox, and life reinvention.

What's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?

In 2010 after being married to my college sweetheart for 12 years we separated and it was devastating. He decided that we would sell our home and when it sold he would move to California. When he told me this I had no idea what I would do. A little intuitive voice told me to go to Miami.

I went to live in Miami. I left my friends and family in Northern New Jersey and NY and left without knowing anyone in Miami. I didn’t even have a job. I was spiraling. Six months later my now ex-husband leaves California, comes to Miami to be together but didn’t have any plan, he was also unemployed. Then he disrespected me by sending me a text message intended for another woman. That showed me he wasn’t truly sincere when he said he wanted to reconcile. This hurt me immensely.

Despite the clear proof that this marriage was spiraling, I held on remaining separated for four and a half more years. This was marital limbo and it was nothing but a crushing blow to my self-worth. I stayed because I was codependent.

In 2015 I couldn’t stand being stuck anymore in the marriage and my life. I told my then-husband that we’ve been separated for 4 and a half years. We need to decide because this isn’t healthy. He decided to ask for a divorce. I was heartbroken.

Around the same time being that I was lost professionally and had zero desire to work in a corporate setting again after 20 years doing Public Relations, I decided to go to a weekend workshop that helps women tap into their inner genius and create businesses that are flexible and profitable.

It was in that workshop where the name LoveQuest Marketing came to me. Initially, the business was going to be a personal branding agency for love. God smiled at me, said I was close, that I would help others but I would have to hit rock bottom, have my heart broken through a divorce and a subsequent rebound relationship with a narcissist, and go through the journey of healing myself of codependency.

I did it!

I learned how to love myself better than anyone could or should and when my therapist suggested I get my masters in psychology and become a licensed therapist, I decided I would become a Certified Life Coach instead.

I knew that I would be able to use all of my marketing and PR skills, that I absolutely loved counseling and creating content on social media. I also knew I wanted a business I can do from anywhere. I wanted freedom and a scalable business. I’m in the process of scaling now. In addition to one on one coaching, I plan to have an online merchandise store with motivational apparel and accessories, books, digital courses, and group coaching.

I was still doing public relations with a friend, managing her boutique PR firm while she was recovering from a serious surgery. By 2019 I was already coaching for 2 years and that was when the “ah-ha” moment came.

I decided to radically transform the way I spoke about myself professionally. I used to say I’m a PR strategist and I am trying to get a life coaching business going. I started to say “I’m a Certified Professional Life Coach.” 90 days after I made this important mindset shift I left PR for good and started coaching full time.

Take us through the process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing your first product.

My “product” is life coaching but I did apply my marketing and sales skills to create different categories of typical issues people face so they can identify with them. I created 45 and 90-day LoveQuest Journey’s which include one-on-one coaching weekly, plus access via text, and a good worksheet that helps people through the journey in between sessions.

It’s not about 12 hour days. It’s about a really strong mindset rooted in abundance and faith.

People come away making massive breakthroughs and changing their lives. They become a whole new person.

Describe the process of launching the business.

My business launch was interesting in that I treated my social media as a personal reality show.

I would share my own journey so a lot of people who followed me from back then follow me now and some became clients. They saw my 10 years journey and my life reinvention play out on social media so I never really had a big official launch. I’ve just been authentic and transparent sharing my own journey on social media and it resonated with people.

Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?

I love this question because I have tried so many different things. I’ve spent about 60k on business courses and personal and professional development and ultimately, lead generation, organic marketing (no ads) really boils down to the Law of Assumption and massive faith in God.

Leaving the cushy salary lifestyle for a solopreneur 100% commission lifestyle was scary. I had to just believe in myself. I was assigned by God to serve in this way so I put it in my head that if God is the CEO of my business and I work for God, then I cannot fail and I’d always have people to serve. So when I wake up in the morning I say, “thank you, God. I’m here another day. Send me people to serve in your name and I shall serve them with love.”

From my faith, I get the inspiration for my social media posts, my video content, and the right people to help me appear. I’m now working closely with a business strategist and social media marketer who have partnered with me to scale my business.

For now, all of my marketing is organic. It’s all content-driven. People see me online either through videos or posts and reach out to me for help.

How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

I’m doing great!! I’m right where I’m supposed to be and am stepping into the next version of me. In 2020 I left Miami and moved to Sarasota which was huge. I also bought a new car. In January 2020 I declared that this year was going to be about “up-leveling” and I definitely did that. As I mentioned, I’m working with a business team to take my business to the next level.

I’m so close. It’s a fun process. I see the next step so clearly and I’m doing all the work on the back end, setting up the systems and the passive flows of revenue. Eventually, the goal is to write books and become a thought leader, speak with and uplift the world.

Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?

Yes! I learned to never make any decisions from a position of lack of fear. I got suckered into a 10k sales training course which wasn’t at all worth it.

I also learned to be open to learning from others but the right others. There are a lot of coaches who prey upon other coaches’ desire to get to 100k and it’s easy to take the bait.

Another great lesson I learned was that I didn’t have to work so hard. It’s not about 12 hour days. It’s about a really strong mindset rooted in abundance and faith.

What platform/tools do you use for your business?

All social media platforms of course. I have a Squarespace website, Calendly, MailChimp. All of these things will level up as I do.

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?

Inner Bonding by Dr. Margaret Paul, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Science of Getting Rich, The Power of the Subconscious Mind, Earl Nightingale (pretty much everything), Bob Proctor, Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port, Ask and it is Given by Esther Hicks, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Joe Vitale, You can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, You are A Badass and You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero. The list goes on and on.

Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting?

Be very kind and compassionate to yourself. Starting a business will show you everything about yourself. Be ready to dig into every fear and limiting belief. You’ll definitely need to learn how to love yourself and how to trust your instincts. Consider having a solid self-care ritual and get the mindset right. It’s really 15% ability and production and 85% mindset.
