What I’ve Been Up To Since My Last Interview
It’s been going really well since we last spoke. A lot has happened with Plasfy, and the growth over the past year has been bigger than I expected.
Aggressive Growth Through Ads
The biggest change was going hard on Facebook ads. I ran very aggressive campaigns, and the results were immediate - a huge influx of new users, reviews, and industry awards. At one point, the volume of sales coming in was so high that I had to actually scale the ads back just to keep things manageable.
Recognition on G2
That growth translated into recognition. Plasfy was ranked #40 on G2.com, which puts it in the Top 50 Software Companies in Australia & New Zealand across all industries. What makes me proud is that the ranking is based purely on customer satisfaction.
Plasfy is the only bootstrapped solo-founded company on that list.
I’m also the youngest founder represented there.
For me, that recognition validates the thousands of hours I’ve put into building Plasfy from the ground up.
Product Updates
On the product side, I’ve focused heavily on improving the user experience:
Major updates to the dashboard area to make it faster and cleaner.
A full refresh of the art assets collection.
A brand new video training series to help users get the most out of the software.
Countless bug fixes and performance improvements behind the scenes.
It’s been a lot of work, but seeing the direct impact on users and the feedback reflected in reviews - makes it worthwhile.
Looking Beyond Plasfy
Lately, I’ve also been spending time on my other business, Deal Quokka, which was also featured on StarterStory. Compared to Plasfy, it’s much lighter to run - updates are less time-intensive, and sales come in every day without needing to rely on ads. It’s been nice having that balance alongside Plasfy’s more hands-on growth. I've also acquired four magazines and several e-commerce brands, which has opened up a new side of my work. Working on these projects has been a refreshing change of pace, and it’s given me a chance to experiment with storytelling, branding, and community-building in ways that software alone doesn’t.
What’s Next
For now, I’m focused on continuing to refine Plasfy, scaling my media ventures, and exploring the intersections of software, content, and commerce. Growth has been strong, the recognition has been great, and I’m excited about what’s ahead! :)
