Who are you and what business did you start?

I’m Chad Vavra, a design executive with decades of experience working with the likes of Pixar, Meta, and Google. Today, I’m the cofounder of Chat Agency AI, a platform for entrepreneurial thinkers and business leaders who are tired of AI tools that promise magic but lack context.

What makes Chat Agency AI unique is it treats AI as a trusted team member. We differentiate ourselves by asking users to review and initiate each step because if an AI builds a system without your input, you aren't invested in it, you're just responsible for it. We’re at the $10K revenue mark.

How do you come up with the idea for Chat Agency AI?

The idea came from seeing a recurring integration gap in the industry. I noticed enterprises were spending millions on AI and software that didn't integrate. I knew Chat Agency AI was the solution because it addressed the blank-canvas problem for enterprise leaders. Most businesses are paralyzed by the complexity and security risks of AI. When I realized I could leverage my background to build a security-first, custom solution that worked within their existing infrastructure, demand was immediate.

The "aha" moment happened when I stopped trying to wish the AI were smarter and started tying multiple systems together. The result was tied to delivering professional-grade results that saved clients hundreds of thousands of dollars. I validated the idea through three massive wins. First, I helped a solo entrepreneur save $300k and six months of work, taking him from a concept to a patent filing. Second, I helped a major bank scale their strategy capacity 40X, moving them from 5 ideas a year to 200. Finally, I helped a $200M construction firm bypass six-figure consulting fees to successfully productize their internal software. These results proved that the value wasn't in the AI, but in the orchestration.

How did you launch Chat Agency AI and get initial traction?

The launch was a series of targeted conversations in which I showcased actual results rather than just talking about potential. The response was immediate curiosity because I wasn't selling AI. Instead, I was selling saved time and reduced overhead. People were relieved to find someone who could cut through the hype and offer something secure and functional.

The biggest lesson I learned from this phase was that showing a working prototype is much more effective than a polished slide deck. My first dollar came within the first month after a single high-stakes meeting with a CEO who was stuck on a complex project. I didn't pitch him a service. I showed him how I could automate a process that was currently costing him months of manual labor.

I attracted my first few clients at Global Citizen, Cisco, Strava and more similarly by finding leaders who were frustrated with hyped AI software and showing them a bespoke alternative. This taught me that my business isn't about the technology itself, but about being a problem solver. I realized that my value lies in my ability to translate complex systems into simple, profitable outcomes for my clients.

What was the growth strategy for Chat Agency AI and how did you scale?

Growth came primarily through a build in public strategy on LinkedIn and specialized industry forums like Reddit. Instead of traditional SEO or cold calling, I focused on sharing deep-dive case studies that explained exactly how I solved a specific client problem .For aspiring entrepreneurs, the best way to grow is to double down on the one channel where your ideal clients already hang out rather than trying to be everywhere at once.

I chose LinkedIn because that’s where decision-makers look for professional efficiency, while I used niche subreddits to find the actual pain points people were complaining about. My recommendation is to identify the friction point in your industry and create content that solves it. Focus on being useful first, and the customer base will follow.

Additionally, I leveraged my thought leadership by writing opinion pieces for outlets like The AI Journal and sharing them across platforms and startup communities. Lastly, we also focused on presenting high-value case studies to clients and demonstrating with videos and demos to show [how Chat Agency AI works how Chat Agency AI works.

What were the biggest lessons learned from building Chat Agency AI?

The most significant lesson I learned is that in the age of AI, true value lies in architecting systems that solve specific human problems rather than just licensing a chat box.

Instead of a one-click button, I focused on a UI that gives users a moment to review and edit. This builds the trust that is so often missing in automated tools. I was fortunate to have a background in design systems, which came in handy when the world realized LLMs needed better interfaces.

The habit that serves me best is radical curiosity. I spend a few hours every week playing with new tech without a specific goal, which helps me see mistakes other people make, like asking "What can AI do?" instead of "What should I never have to do again?" I document my learnings and experiences on LinkedIn, which helps clarify what problems AI can solve and what solutions are needed today. We are moving from an era of scarcity to an era of abundance. My top tip is to use these tools to empower people rather than just automate them. Build something that makes your users feel like superheroes.
