I Help Brands Rank In ChatGPT (AEO, $50K Per Month)
Who are you and what business did you start?
Felix Norton & Freddie O'Donnel, Co-Founders of BrandAxis. BrandAxis is an AI visibility analytics platform to help brands align with AI. We help brands understand how their brand / product / idea shows up in LLMs like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Ai Overviews, Claude etc. From there we provide them with the tools and exact playbook to improve their metrics and narrative. Our core features include LLM Prompt Tracking, Sentiment Analysis and Key Sources and have a path to include other exciting features like Hallucination Alerts, Misinformation Detection and Recommended Actions, providing brands with the toolkit to improve their visibility / traffic / revenue / perception in AI answers. Our platform is backed by real world agency experience driving results for over 500 clients. BrandAxis launched in Early Access in May of 2026 and expect to hit revenue targets between $50 000 - $100 000 MRR by the end of 2026.
How do you come up with the idea for brandaxis.ai?
I (Felix, while running Woww a $1.5M MRR+ digital marketing agency) had has spent the last decade chasing the addictive high of ranking a website on Google. SEO has been his thing since before "GEO", "AEO", "LLMO", or "WTFO?" was a major buzzword.
Then in 2024, on a routine client kickoff call, I asked the question every agency owner asks: "Where did you hear about us?"
It wasn't Google. It wasn't a network referral, Meta ad, or a LinkedIn post.
"Oh, ChatGPT recommended you." - Insert mindblown.gif
It was clear to me that an entirely new acquisition channel had just emerged.
I spent the next 18 months treating GEO like SEO circa 2009, head down, running experiments, measuring what stuck. It was like the wild wild web again. Completely uncharted territory. By working with my clients and testing on my own websites, I learnt what worked and what didn't. Finally I was ready.
How did you build the initial version of brandaxis.ai?
Felix Norton & Freddie O'Donnel built BrandAxis by leveraging Freddie's development skills to create a robust, scalable AI visibility analytics platform. Freddie built the platform solo, using Mac minis as agents and Gemini for architecture, all within a budget of around $5000. The development process took about a month, with a focus on creating a tool that marketers could use effortlessly to understand their brand in AI. The experience of building the platform was challenging but ultimately successful, as they were able to compete with larger competitors with minimal funding.
How did you launch brandaxis.ai and get initial traction?
Around the same time, a LinkedIn rant made the rounds basically: "why is Ahrefs charging so much for Brand Radar, and practically begging for a scrappy upstart to steal their lunch?"
I really felt like the the AI tracking platform prices were too damn high The first AI visibility trackers had just launched, and… they were charging Ahrefs prices on day one. I read the rant, agreed someone should do it, and then had the crazy thought: wait... could that be us?
This is where Freddie came in, as a former senior developer at Twitch working on problems at global scale and a having successfully launched a fintech startup, I knew he'd be able to help me understand something that was puzzlingly me. Felix: "Help me understand what I'm missing. Tracking prompts across LLMs shouldn't be this hard or expensive, right?" Freddie: "It's not. I could build that in like a month."
He was right! But the hard part was building a full platform that marketers could use effortlessly to understand their brand in AI and give them the right tools to improve it.
Freddie built that platform. Scraper from scratch. With a couple of Mac minis turned into agents and Gemini under his command. He created the robust, scalable architecture that would set up the project for success, while I provided the direction, QA and began building the brand.
He practically built what took competitors with multiple team members and millions in funding, solo.
Our initial launch was fully bootstrapped between our time and effort, and we spent about $5000 spent in Tools/ Tech Equipment / R&D expenses / company setup fees.
What was the growth strategy for brandaxis.ai and how did you scale?
Initially I leveraged my existing agency clients and connections to acquire our first customers. These were our early customers who shaped the direction of the platform and the core features we needed to focus on.
I also leaned heavily on business networks and LinkedIn, using these networks, I was able to connect with other founders and business owners wanting to grow their AI visibility.
We also realised that agencies would be the an ideal customer and could champion the platform for their own clients, so we reached out to all the agencies and built relationships with them, creating a mutually beneficial system where they could use our platform to provide amazing results for their clients.
Similarly content creators could use our affiliate program to promote our platform and get a share of revenue.
Then finally, we used our own platform to maximise our AI visibility and have LLMs themselves promote us. BrandAxis AI uncovered, which PR sites to focus on, Reddir threads to post on, what kind of content to produce, that would result in AI citing and recommending us.
What were the biggest lessons learned from building brandaxis.ai?
Founder Communication - I've been super grateful to have a co-founder who I can speak to openly and honestly, putting ego and feelings aside to have candid and often crucial conversations. Taking the time to really listen is super important, try to properly understand your co-founders perspectives and be open minded. We learnt a lot from each other, and both grew. I think this applies to all people in life tbh.
Life gets in the way, thats ok - We had setbacks with both us needing to take time off for family or personal health reasons. This is part of life, and its important to remember that the those things should be prioritized.
Don't overly focus on what others are doing - BrandAxis was not first to market in the AI Visibility space, and there was a lot of pressure to catchup or follow what other competitors were doing. Learn from them, but you don't need to copy them exactly. Focus on having an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity one.
