Slopes initially grew through word-of-mouth referrals within the core ski community, as early users shared the app among frequent skiers. To enhance this organic growth, the founder introduced shareable cards in the app that allowed users to share their ski stats and highlights on social media. Additionally, the company experimented with Instagram ads, spending $5,000 which contributed a small percentage of annual downloads. Email marketing, including sending NPS surveys and lifecycle-based emails using marketing software, also played a role in product development and user engagement.
