Hi, I’m Ashleigh Di Lello, mind coach, mother, wife, and creator of Bio Emotional Healing®, a process I created based on neuroscience to help my clients rewire their subconscious minds.

At age 13, I was suddenly faced with a life-threatening illness that led to years of chronic pain, a broken metabolism, rapid weight gain, and a destructive relationship with my body and food. Through my study of neuroscience and a 20-year journey, I was able to overcome the emotional, physical, and mental battle in my life to become an elite athlete, TV and Broadway star, business owner, and motivational speaker.

I created Bio Emotional Healing® to first reclaim my life, and now I work with people all over the world who struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, limiting beliefs, emotional eating, and the effects of chronic pain or illness. I know my client’s struggle to feel the way they want can seem impossible, and I’ve learned the smallest changes in the right process can make a world of difference.

I've been so sick that I struggled to lift a finger and required a wheelchair to travel anywhere. I've been in so much pain that I couldn’t stop my body from uncontrollably shaking. I have felt weak and exhausted to the depths of my soul, but I've always held on to the belief that there are no limits to what the human soul and body can overcome. I’m living evidence of this truth and that’s why I’ve made it my life’s mission to help my clients finally break free from feeling like a prisoner to their body and mind!

What's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?

When I was 13 years old, one day I was dancing five hours a day and the next I woke up in pain in every joint and muscle and could hardly move. I became so sick that some days I could barely speak or even lift a finger and was told by top specialists that I had a rare viral infection and there was nothing they could do for me, essentially sending me home to die. After a four-year battle of fighting between life and death, I defied the odds and started regaining my health and my life.

I went on to become a United States top-ranked Latin ballroom dancer, a top 6 finalist on the FOX TV show ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ headlined a Broadway Show and performed and taught in over 45 countries all over the world with my husband Ryan.

I became an expert trainer in LA and developed my own workout/nutrition/mindset app called The New Thin that was based on approaching health from a place of self-love and not self-hate and recognizing that our bodies are our greatest gifts. And then I further defied all odds and had my beautiful daughter Sofia.

But then, five years ago I went into my second hip surgery and everything changed again. I suddenly lost both my careers and found myself struggling to walk or even hold my daughter. I was told my nervous system had flipped a switch and that I needed to "accept I was a chronic pain patient now." As I felt pain and dysfunction spread throughout my body, it all felt very deja vu and it took me on a journey of discovering that my illness as a teenager had truly changed my nervous system and its memory of that very hard and traumatic time was greatly impacting how my body was reacting to the pain I was having now.

I delved into studying neuroscience and pain science with the belief that I could switch my nervous system back! After the constant study, research, and personal application, I realized that to fully heal, I had to go within and understand the depths of how my physical and emotional trauma had reprogrammed the connection between my mind and body. And then I had to figure out how to rewire it so a pain-free, healthy life was possible!

This led me to my life's work and the creation of Bio Emotional Healing®. Creating and doing the process of Bio Emotional Healing® has been the most challenging, yet empowering experience of my life. It's what's allowed me to heal and keep healing.

It's what has brought me to my amazing work with my clients, who are finally being set FREE to live the life they have always wanted!

Take us through the process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing your first product.

After trying nearly everything to heal, including 200+ injections, 3 surgeries, acupuncture, supplements, anti-inflammatory foods, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), talk therapy, and healing modalities of all kinds, I realized that there wasn’t a step-by-step process that would allow me to work within my own mind and body to rewire my brain and nervous system. I knew the solution had to come from the inside out and not from the outside in. That’s when I went to work to figure out what that process needed to be. After endless hours of studying and experimenting with different techniques, I merged the science with everything I had learned from over twenty years of personally experiencing physical and emotional trauma.

There were many revisions of both the process and the order of what ultimately became Bio Emotional Healing®. I realized that in trying to work with the brain instead of against it, the process was similar to baking a cake. You could do all the steps in the recipe to exactness, but if you didn’t do them in the right order, then the cake wouldn’t turn out. This was even more true in working with the brain. It takes a step-by-step process, building the right foundation, awareness, and tools to rewire the brain. The order of these steps took the longest to figure out and through much trial and error, I finally settled on what the 8-week process needed to be.

Describe the process of launching the business.

In 2020 our income from dance disappeared overnight due to covid. My husband was unable to teach lessons and all performances were canceled. To survive, we had to pivot. We doubled our efforts to launch Bio Emotional Healing®, spending sleepless nights building my website, membership portal, and program tools.

Phase one of our launch was to our natural market (email list and social media followers). We crafted several strategic emails and social media posts that let my audience know what I had been working on and how they could work with me. Phase two consisted of booking speaking opportunities on several virtual summits where my ideal audience would be attending.

Between our natural market and the speaking engagements, we were able to survive 2020, and 2021 has now been our best financial year ever. Phase three is still on the horizon and will consist of a social media ad campaign directing potential clients to my free training where they can learn more about what I do and book a free consultation to work with me.

Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?

Speaking engagements have been the number one tool for attracting new customers in 2021. I have also been a guest on multiple podcasts that have brought me, new clients. These opportunities give my audience the chance to hear my story, understand what I do, and feel the passion I have for helping them heal and thrive in their lives.

Every day, make a list of priorities. Start with the most important thing and only do that until it is finished, and then move to the next and so forth.

I have also started my own podcast called Body Freedom Radio which is beginning to grow quickly.

How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

I am currently able to run a very profitable business because most of my clients come from organic outreach: social media, podcasting, referrals, and speaking engagements. We have plans to begin an ad campaign during the second half of this year which will undoubtedly take some testing and fine-tuning.

My goals are based on how many people I want to serve each month. By the end of 2021, I hope to double the number of my clients.

Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?

I’ve learned that the success of your business will mirror your internal beliefs about yourself. Working on your own personal growth is intricately connected to your business’s growth. If you know your why strongly enough, then you’ll be more resilient through the inevitable ups and downs of entrepreneurship.

Once you know your value and the outcome you provide, know how to communicate that value to the world. Be bold and clearly describe how your product or service can change your customer’s life. Serve, serve, and then serve some more.

What platform/tools do you use for your business?

We use LeadPages for our website and several landing pages, as well as Clickfunnels for our membership portal. We also use ActiveCampaign for email management and editing tools such as Canva and Final Cut Pro for images and videos.

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?

All I can say is, never stop learning. Time is so precious. Spend as much time learning from people who can help you grow as well as help your business grow.

Ed Mylett is amazing for both inspiration and business. Plus the guests he has on his podcast are dream guests I hope to have on mine someday.

Andrew Hubrman (Humberman Lab) is one of my go-to sources for all things neuroscience.

Tom Bilyeu has been a huge resource for me in fueling my determination in my business in pursuing my purpose and passion.

Perry Nickelston (@stopchasingpain) is my go-to source for all things related to physical pain and healing.

Amy Purdy is a dear friend and an incredible example of resilience. Her podcast “Bouncing Forward” is a great resource.

Dotcom Secrets and Expert Secrets by Russell Brunson are excellent books to learn the world of online marketing and running an online business.

Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting?

Why do you want to do what you want to do? If you don’t know the deeper reasons beyond making an income, then everything else in your business will struggle.

Everything starts with your vision, and then create a step-by-step plan of execution. You can get really busy doing a lot of tasks, and overlooking or avoiding the big things that will move your business forward. Every day, make a list of priorities. Start with the most important thing and only do that until it is finished, and then move to the next and so forth.

Are you looking to hire for certain positions right now?

We are not looking to hire anyone at the moment, but as we grow, we plan to hire a virtual assistant and then an enrollment coach. The virtual assistant will help with sending and responding to support emails, coordinating social media posts, booking speaking engagements, and managing my calendar. The enrollment coach will do enrollment consultation calls, making sure the potential clients and I are a good fit.
