2020 initiated the beginning of a new wave of millions of new entrepreneurs, and over the next 10 years, more businesses will be created than ever before. Our goal is to inspire 1B new entrepreneurs by 2025, with our content and products.
Over the years, we have built Starter Story to 1.4M monthly readers and a 200K+ email list. We did it all bootstrapped, no paid ads, 100% organic, and a lean team.

About This Role
We are looking to bring on a Head of Brand Partnerships in a sales-focused role to help scale our business. We are looking for someone to work with us full-time to create revenue opportunities and brand partnerships so that we can reach more readers.
You’ll execute various marketing activities, including brand campaigns, partnerships, and launches while ensuring alignment between our brand strategy and business objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Identify prospects, schedule call appointments and build strong relationships with brands
- Design and execute processes of research, outreach to prospects and leads, pitching, negotiating, and closing deals.
- Initiate quality conversations, RFP inclusion and/or other immediate revenue-generating opportunities.
- Manage brand partnerships/campaigns and evaluate performance through reporting and analysis, documenting learnings and recommendations for improvement.
- Be an advocate for the brand, helping others to understand and get excited about Starter Story
Who You Are
We are looking for someone with great sales skills and a bias for action.
Someone who can move through the entire sales process, close deals confidently, and be creative in the process, adapting to clients and the situation as necessary.
We’re looking for someone in media sales who has existing relationships and can hit the ground running.
We’re looking for someone who is excited about the idea of leading the sales strategy at Starter Story, making a huge impact on the future of the company, and eventually building out a sales team.
Qualifications
- Significant professional digital or integrated media sales experience (3+ years of media experience)
- History of meeting and exceeding sales quotas.
- Strong foundation of deep/meaningful client (brand and agency) relationships.
- Thorough understanding of the full sales cycle and digital media operations.
- Forecast, track and report on sales performance, meeting quarterly targets set by management.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- An entrepreneurial spirit who creatively solve problems and is comfortable working independently
