Deja started Tyla's Writing Services in 2020. They detail the beginnings of their company in their Starter Story interview: 
Q: How did you get started on Tyla's Writing Services?
I studied Computer Science and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in late 2018. During my studies and into my professional career, I have always loved applying my technical knowledge to writing documents and articles. As such, I have found a love for writing, just as much as I love new technologies, and configuring new systems. After finishing my Master’s Degree, I decided that I wanted to fully embrace both aspects of my passion, and pursue both writing and IT.
Engaging with your customers is one of the most important things you can do. You need to set aside time to simply talk to people and connect with them. What makes a small business unique is the customer gets to talk directly to the business owner or someone very close to them.
As such, in addition to my job as an Engineer, I established Tyla’s Writing Services. In the future, I hope that I can find a way to advance in both industries and create my own Technical Consulting firm as well, owning 2 businesses.
With writing, it’s fun and exciting to get behind my keyboard and devote myself to my work. If I am writing a resume, I fully devote myself to being John/Jane Doe. I sit there and write everything I would want an employer to know about me in the most elaborate and detailed way. Then, I put on my recruiter/hiring manager hat and change the resume or cover letter to meet the specifications from that perspective as well. In doing so, I finalize a resume that is professional, detailed, and impactful.
When writing a blog, or website, I take a very similar approach. I write what I want to learn, but then also write what I want to read. It’s a weird approach to many, but it simply works for me and I love it!
I am just an overall people person, and there’s nothing more fun than interacting with customers all over the world and talking to them via phone calls, emails, or texts to learn more about them or their brand, and help them reach their personal goals. This is why I love my work and knew this was the right job for me.* *As I continue to build my brand and build my customer base, my focus is on the people and their unique experiences and problems that they bring to me.
