Andy Strote is a Canadian entrepreneur. Andy started How to Start a Successful Creative Agency in 2020.
Andy Strote is a copywriter, creative director, and founder of three creative agencies in Toronto.
In his first agency, he worked solo with other freelancers. He then went on to found a larger creative agency, Fireworks Creative with a partner. Fireworks was one of Canada’s first truly integrated creative agencies.
In five years, Fireworks Creative grew from two to 30 people. Fireworks was then on the radar of two companies interested in an acquisition—a global advertising network based in New York and Cognicase, a multi-national IT company. Fireworks was acquired by Cognicase for $3 million.
Andy left after six months and started the next agency, Context Creative, with one partner and one employee. Context grew to 28 people. After 15 years, Andy retired from Context, selling his shares to his partners.
Today, Andy writes for a select group of clients and wrote the 325-page book, How to Start a Successful Creative Agency. The book has 23 chapters which are outlined on the website, creativeagencybook.com.
Andy Strote started as a copywriter, writing for six Toronto ad agencies, large and small. His clients included Canon, Colgate, Canadian Tire, Delta Hotels, and New Brunswick Tourism. He worked in all media including TV, radio and print.
