Freshly Squeezed

Adam started Freshly Squeezed in 2019. They detail the beginnings of their company in their Starter Story interview: [1]

Q: How did you get started on Freshly Squeezed?

Ever since a young age, I’ve been absolutely fascinated by the idea of entrepreneurship. I had always wanted to be able to run my own business. I was a bit of an outsider in high school. I didn’t have any friends and I would spend most lunch breaks on my own. This gave me a considerable amount of time to develop business ideas and try things without worrying about what others may think.

Fast-forward several years...

After parting ways with a digital marketing agency in October 2019, I was in a position where I could go all-in on an idea that had been brewing in my head for a while - a content writing business.

It was a scary time. There were a lot of unknowns. I wasn’t sure if I could make it work and I was worried I would fail. Failure is definitely something I was concerned about. At the same time, I was fully aware that allowing negativity to consume my head would be unproductive and distract away from the task at hand. I knuckled down and did everything that I could to build a customer base as quickly as possible.

> If the value proposition diminishes over time, you’re more likely to see customers drop off and fall to the wayside. This is why I put a huge amount of time and effort into going the extra mile for my existing customers.

I knew that if I didn’t at least try to pursue my life-long ambition, I would regret it. This was the perfect opportunity to take a deep dive and try to make something work, anything. The last six months have gone so quickly - it’s incredible. I have several customers in the SaaS industry and I also work on content for businesses in an eclectic mix of other industries. I really enjoy the variety and it keeps me on my toes!

After six months of building Freshly Squeezed, I am now earning considerably more than I was at the digital marketing agency. It sounds too good to be true. In a way, I don’t want it to sink in anytime soon. I’ve been playing my own game and working towards my own financial targets. I do treat it like a competitive game and that’s exciting to me.
